"Iron sharpens Iron" (Proverbs 27:17)
Maintenance should be completed periodically when your shears are too loose or tight and maybe need oiled and cleaned.
Sharpening depends on how much they are used but most will need this every 3-6 months. They may also need sharpening if they have been dropped or have developed any nicks or any other damage to the cutting edge causing them to cut improperly or pull the hair. If you do a lot of point cutting, you may need your shears sharpened when the tips begin to pull or bend the hair. When they are sharpened, they should always be cleaned, polished adjusted, oiled and tested.
On-site Service - My equipment creates a very small footprint in a corner of your shop or in the break room. All I require is a single 110V outlet. It is a quiet operation, and you will appreciate having your shears sharpened where you are so you get them back quickly.
I offer a full line of Ookami styling and barber shears including thinning shears in a wide range of pricing. These shears have a 30-day, money-back guarantee for any manufacturing defect. I am always getting new ones in and am able to order many styles as well.

Interesting Fact:
Early shears were crafted of copper or bronze and eventually crude metals. It wasn't until the early 20th century with the invention of stainless steel that hair shears begin to take on the form and function and versatility we are so used to today. It was even years later that they begin to take on an ergonomic design for ease of use, improved funtionality, and to reduce fatigue and risk of injury. The tools we use today in this industry are far superior than even just a few decades ago.

The inside of the blade is hollow ground which gives the shears a smooth cutting action. Convex shears also have a thick line, called a hone line, that runs from the pivot screw to the tip of the blade. This line helps the blade move more stable and makes the shears feel smoother.
Semi convex shears are very similar to convex. The major difference is a slightly lower degree of sharpening for the blades. If you have a pair of shears that are color and not beveled, they will be semi-convex.
